Sick of the NYT's Censorship of Gender-Critical Comments
NYT obliterates transgender-critical comments more times than I can count
I’ve been restacking and reposting other people’s posts rather than writing new ones of my own, because so many writers here say it and have said it all better than I can. But I am so pissed at the NYT — again — for — again — deleting already approved comments because so-called trans so-called activists have flagged said comments into oblivion.
Yes, I know: it’s the NYT’s sandbox, and I’m only playing in it. They have the right to post, publish, delete, remove whatever they want. I know. I get it. But it still pisses me off they they pretend to want reader comments and tout “all the news that’s fit to print” while distorting reader opinion and basically blacklisting comments that don’t fit their bullshit p.c. sensibilities.
And I say this as a longtime leftist and feminist, and I don’t care who doesn’t like it.
Here’s the comment I left earlier today, which finally got published (after I’d submitted it three times) and received about 40 “Recommend” votes, plus two pro-trans, “you’re a bigot, Lisa” replies, and one supportive reply. Screenshot of comments followed by screenshot of the thread’s obliteration (I took the screenshot before all the other “Recommends” were in):
As I’ve written before, this is a regular thing with the NYT. I’ve written to their editors about it more than once. But of course they don’t care.
Keep it up, Dems and otherwise self-styled lefties. You will keep losing, and losing, and losing, and losing, and losing elections, and you will keep handing the country over to regressive, fascistic forces like Trump, as long as you cling to this profoundly delusional, profoundly ILLIBERAL dogma claiming that people can change their sex at the drop of a hat.
You are harming women. You are harming children. You are harming human beings. You are wrong.
I canceled the NYT in 2021 because of their treatment of women, including the censorship of gender critical comments. It’s an echo chamber. You don’t need it, trust me.
Well done, Lisa!
I consider getting a GC comment through on NYT to be backdoor journalism.
I especially love to boost organizations and people I follow. Generally, specific mentions don't get through. But if they do, perhaps more minds enlightened?
